When you are ready, it may be best to consult with a physiotherapist to see which exercises are appropriate for your current physical state. Different stages of the healing process require a different level of stimulation. There is not a single approach or technique that works for all condition but there is nothing that proves that exercises can make things worse as long as it is done in moderation and  is properly monitored. In fact, exercising can even help stimulate circulation thus helps speed up the rate of recovery. It can also help you build muscles to better re-enforce structures that are weak to begin with.
